Christmas Tassels, Project 52-34

I spent an afternoon working on a project that I have had in mind for awhile.  I think tassels are such a creative addition to home decor and wanted to make some Christmas tassels.  I used this helpful tutorial at kmckaydesigns.com.

I had picked up 3 ornaments on sale last year, and various fringe and ribbon to use for this project.

First, I used E600 glue to attach some candle cups to the ornaments.

I added fringe to the inside of the candle cups using my hot glue gun.  I even made my own fringe from some yarn for the snowman tassel.

Then I added ribbon cut into various lengths and loops until I got the desired effect.

It was fun trying to get just the right look.

By the time I got to the last ornament, I finally had
the process down & this one was my favorite one.
I think the black & white ribbon just made it so cute.  Think I am
going to make some for Christmas gifts (shhhhhh, don't tell)!!

Project 52-33, Pumpkins

See these legs...

Unfortunately they were amputated from the pumpkin witch that Brie made.  I helped her come up with the idea to make a Pumpkin witch and provided the supplies and the supervision, so she could enter the pumpkin contest.  We didn't quite spend enough time figuring out how to keep the witch's legs on her round body.  When Brie & Brodie & their mom tried to deliver their pumpkins to the library, it wasn't long before they received a phone call to tell them that Brie's pumpkin had fallen apart.  We went and picked her up and did some surgery, took her back, but she just didn't like her legs.  She jumped off the table while we were checking out new books and fell apart again.  We then decided there was nothing we could do except to have a leg-less witch (and Brie was okay with that)!  By this point, we were just ready to be finished with this pumpkin project :)

Luckily, Brodie's Franken-Pumpkin was very cooperative and was fun for him to make.

Brie won honorable mention in her age group (Brodie won in our hearts)!!  And since we made special memories, it was definitely a win-win project!!

Sorry for the photo quality, these were taken with my phone.

Races, Project 52-31

One of the highlights of our vacation was going to the horse races.  I am not sure who enjoyed them more, the kids or the adults.  It was such a fun day, and we look forward to going back sometime.

Nature, Project 52-30

Ruidoso was full of beautiful sights.  Here are a couple of the visitors that we saw from the deck of our condo.
The deer came by to eat some of the bread crumbs we threw out.

A lovely bird that seemed to be posing for us.

Vacation 2012, Project 52-26

We finally made it to Ruidoso, something we have talked about doing for years.  We were so glad to have our good friend, KK, go with us as well as our daughter and her family.  We were so looking forward to getting a break from the Texas heat and were not disappointed with the cooler temperatures and the rain.

They love Nana KK!

Project 52-???

Well my Project 52 kind of fell by the wayside.  The lady that was hosting the weekly posts handed it off to another man who doesn't send out weekly reminders about the themes and deadlines.  And I kind of needed those reminders to keep me in line :)  But life is still happening and I still want to document it, so I have some catching up to do.

My daughter-in-law and I decided to try our hand at Geocaching.  Our first attempt was not too successful, and I think we both thought what a waste.  Our second attempt was an easy find, and
then we were hooked.  We even got the grandsons involved and they had a blast!  I just need to get the App, so Poppa and I can try our hand at some "treasure hunting" !!

Our first & second finds.

One of our finds was near a cemetery.

Logging our names.

Still Life, Project 52-19

The butterflies came through town, and some of them landed on my porch.  Such beautiful creatures...

Fiesta or Siesta, Project 52-18

Well didn't have time to get this week linked, but no excuses.  Sunday, Danita & her family came over to eat lunch after church.  Afterwards they laid down for a siesta and here is the sleeping princess :)

These aren't the greatest photos, so I edited them with my new photo editing fave (BeFunky.com).  I like some of the cool effects they have such as what I used for the second photo.

Green, Project 52-17

This week's theme was a challenge, but this should work.  We had our first Relay for Life here in our little community this last week.  And this photo is a beautiful sight--the green trees, the green grass, and most of all the beautiful people who are cancer survivors and their caregivers.  These people are truly heros to me for all they have bravely faced and endured.  May God bless each and everyone of them.

Things that Grow - Project 52-16

The roses are in full bloom at my office where I work.  Mr. Bob (my boss) has always had the most beautiful rose garden.  I love to look out my office windows and admire these beautiful flowers since roses have always been my favorite.
